Position Summary:
As a Sr. Food Microbiologist, you will provide scientific and managerial direction to the Food Microbiology Group including project planning, design and execution of experiments, compilation of results and recommendations. In this role you will conduct microbiological risk assessment on new products and recommend the appropriate measures to extend shelf life and prevent food spoilage. In addition, you will be responsible for providing scientific input and recommendations to the company in development of strategic plans. You will stay abreast of pertinent developments in the fields of food microbiology, preservations, and diagnostics.


Required Qualifications:
PhD in Food Sciences, Microbiology or related field, or, equivalent education and experience
In-depth knowledge of food microbiology and in particular, food preservations and spoilage prevention
At least 5 years of experience in business environment preferably within the food industry
Experience in adapting new microbiological technologies to applications in the food industry
Ability to work in a fast paced environment, managing multiple projects with attention to meeting project milestones and timelines
Strong leadership skills
In-depth knowledge and understanding of the physical, chemical, and microbiological attributes and test procedures of food products as well as industry standards of Quality & Food Safety systems
Basic experience with government regulatory requirements in
food processing
Strong people motivator and team player
Excellent communication skills with an ability to effectively communicate food spoilage and safety objectives across all levels of the organization
Proven experience on cross-functional teams- R&D, Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing, Quality Control, and Technical Services
Proven strong relationship skills to achieve sustainable partnerships and collaboration internally and externally
