Sr Instrument Technologist, M&E

2020 Dow CenterThe Dow Chemical Company has an opening for a Senior Instrumentation Technologist at our La Porte, TX site.  This job exists to provide instrument technologist  leadership and support to the La Porte, TX Maintenance department. The successful candidate will possess leadership skills, have a great deal of experience and serve as the Instrumentation subject matter expert for the site. Key Responsibilities:- Approach all work from a position of safety being the highest priority of any task, both personal safety and the safety of site personneland function effectively in an environment of empowerment and teamwork.-Provides advanced technical subject matter expertise on plant instrument and analyzer issues. Expertise must be strong in both theanalyzer and instrument disciplines (advanced repair, troubleshooting, replacement)-Support commissioning of instrumentation and analyzer equipment on projects & turnarounds-Work directly with engineers and other technologists to solve analyzer and instrument maintenance issues-Ensures repairs, repair techniques, equipment specific training, are documented and made available-Develops maintenance operating discipline-Serves as a technical resource to the planner on work packages.-Develop and review instrument and analyzer safety procedures; participate in Root Cause Analysis Investigations-Develop and provide basic training for instrument and analyzer craftspersons as needed-Support the site Instrument and Analyzer technical networks-Interface with equipment manufacturersEducation and Experience Requirements:The minimum requirement for this role is a recognized Instrumentation Apprenticeship PLUS 15 years experience in the Instrumentation field.Well qualified candidates will have 10 years experience in the instrumentation field PLUS an Associated Degree in Instrumentation of Military Trade training in Instrumentation. Organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.Schedule is the Every Other Friday Off; 9 hours daily M-Th 6:00am to 3:30pm and 8 hours every other Friday from 7:00am-3:30pm.This job requires overtime to support the site as needed, inclusion in after hour and weekend duty assignments, and some minimal travelto adjacent Dow sites as required.This job is NOT offering relocation reimbursement.The ability to lead and inspire the site Instrument Techs, without actually being "the boss."
