Sr. Insurance Analyst

THIS POSITION IS CURRENTLY POSTED WITH CONAGRA FOODS, BUT WILL TRANSITION TO A NEW COMPANY WITHIN THE NEXT 30-60 DAYS DUE TO THE SALE OF THE CONAGRA TRADE GROUP.
Position Summary:
This position provides support with the identification, development and implementation of comprehensive loss control programs, processes, and procedures to mitigate or fund Company risks. The position assist the company risk marketing process, negotiation of costs, terms and conditions of insurance coverage, and is accountable for all on-going service related aspects of the company insurance programs and brokerage relationships. The position evaluates sophisticated risk financing techniques and oversees accumulation of risk exposure and renewal submission data. In addition, this position is accountable for negotiating settlements with carriers or claimants and maintains reporting systems for incidents involving damage to company property, employees or third party claims, including those involving company products.
Position Responsibilities:
· Manage and direct the activities of insurance brokers during selection of insurance carriers to approach for proposals, nature of information to be shared with these carriers, which carriers to take off a specific insurance line (if necessary), and any special project that may arise. In addition, must have the ability to clearly articulate Company goals and directives to the insurance broker.
· Develop insurance marketing programs to promote the Company to current and potential insurance brokers and underwriters. In addition, negotiate with underwriters for true risk transfer through the purchase of insurance as appropriate to protect ConAgra assets.
· Provide direction, leadership and technical support to the operating companies in the identification of risks and applying risk management techniques to effectively handle those risks.
· Evaluate, based on risk profile and market conditions, whether to insure on a self-insured basis against loss. Establish retention levels on the same basis if decision is to insure.
· Develop and produce periodic reports to corporate senior staff, which summarize current risk financing strategies, services contracted, cost, plan (budget) performance, vendor performance, and strategic results.
· Review third party contracts and make recommendations specific to indemnity and insurance requirements, based on the risk exposure of the arrangement.
· Review insurance contracts to confirm they provide the terms and conditions agreed upon. If coverage gaps detected, work with broker and underwriter to resolve.
· Annually benchmark premiums, limits, and deductibles, against appropriate peer group companies of similar size and update cost of risk report.
· Maintain a filing and storage system that allows for safe keeping and easy retrieval of past and current insurance records.
· Oversee the management of the insurance certificate issuance process and auto cab card issuance process
· Annually collects data for insurance renewals. Identifies required exposure data to be collected and facilitates collection efforts. Reconciles submission data for variances, identify reasons, and works with brokers to prepare reports required for the renewal.
· Works with company management contacts to obtain monthly inventory reports for measuring variances to insurance exposure values and reports on significant variances.
· Develops and communicates proper methods for determining location and business interruption values.
· Develops allocation methodology to appropriately assess Operating Groups for Insurance Premiums based on exposures and losses.
· Serves as the accounting liaison for the insurance and loss control function, preparing journal entries, reconciliations and budget data.
· Monitors natural catastrophes, identifying immediate exposures, assuring execution of local business continuity plans and preparing updates for senior management
· Participates in meetings with our insurance brokers, underwriters and operating groups on matters involving coverage and exposures; resolving and /or responding to issues that may be raised.
Qualifications/ Education/Experience/Skills:
§ Bachelor’s degree business or finance required, (advanced degree a plus).
§ Continued insurance education or accreditation desirable (ARM or CPCU designation)
§ 5-10 years of working experience in a variety of risk management or insurance related areas.
§ Possess exceptional communication, presentation, organization, and interpersonal skills.
§ Be decisive, adept at coaching, counseling and problem resolution.
§ Must be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
