General Purpose/Objectives:
Initiates, directs and executes all scientific research and/or development strategies for a company through the research staff or individual studies which are critical. Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions, products and problems. Plans and executes laboratory research. Maintains broad knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories. Makes major contributions to scientific literature and conferences. Serves as in-house and outside consultant. Participates in development of patent applications. Interfaces with various departments. Uses professional concepts to contribute to the development of company concepts and principles and to achieve objectives in creative and effective ways.

Areas of Responsibility
• Develop phosphor based solid state lighting product for different applications such as general lighting, automotive or entertainment.
• Design optics with reflective and refractive devices. Prototype and characterize the device experimentally.
• Collaborate with customers or development partners to implant the design to a final form that meet the target specification.
• Involve in the other LED phosphor application projects according to the personal expertise.

Position Requirements:
• Master in Eng or Ph. D. in EE, Optics or relevant disciplines
• 2+ years R&D, process/product development in LED technology or lighting product
• Hands-on experience on LED lighting device design, characterization, device prototyping and fabrication
• Skilled on optical and mechanical design and ray tracing simulations
• Solid fundamental optics background
• Proven ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, innovative environment
• Excellent communication and presentation capabilities
