Sr. Software Development Engineer

ThyssenKrupp Elevator Manufacturing, a market leader in the manufacturing of elevator systems and components, has an immediate need for a Sr. Software Development Engineer at the Germantown, TN corporate office.

 

This position is responsible for systems analysis, design, implementation, testing & deployment of embedded control & PC based application; provides coaching to other engineers to ensure good design; promotes technical advancement of the department; and may lead small teams of engineers on a project. 



This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Electrical Engineering with specific training in system design methodology.  A Master of Science degree with advanced training in technology planning, project management & engineering management is desirable.  Requires a minimum of five (5) years experience in technical project management, engineer or technical management working with long-term, large-scale technical projects or equivalent.  Good written & verbal communication skills are required.

 

Previous experience with full software life-cycle development required from system/software requirements, software architecture, design, detailed design, implementation, unit & integration testing (white box) is required.  Familiarity with feature/functional software testing (black box) for the validation and verification phase is a plus.  Fluency in the C and/or C++ programming languages is required.  Experience with requirements traceability and design tools such as Telelogic’s DOORS and Rhapsody is strongly preferred.  Familiarity with appropriate software tools for change management is required, e.g. MS Visual Source Safe or PVCS configuration management and defect tracking tools such as PVCS Tracker or FogBugz. 

 

Must have a strong background in designing software for complex real-time, embedded microprocessor systems.  Project management experience and demonstrated past leadership roles in leading small engineering teams is strongly preferred.  A candidate that is a great communicator and a results-oriented individual is highly desired.
