Staff Process Engineer- Aluminum Smelting R&D

Reporting to the Manager, Smelting R&D, you will:

• Become familiar with and advance Alcoa’s smelting process control systems.

• Provide expertise in chemical process control.

• Travel and interact with Alcoa smelters worldwide.

• Conduct process trials at plants worldwide.

• Provide coaching to smelter staff worldwide.

Job grade (16-18) will be dependent on education and experience level.

When conducting trials at the plants, personal protective equipment must be worn. The environment has strong magnetic fields, corrosive molten salts, and dangerous fumes.

Candidates with heart pacemakers or other medical devices sensitive to strong magnetic fields will not be able to perform certain aspects of this position.

Because certain ATC products and technical information are subject to US export laws, candidates will be required to submit information regarding citizenship status.

Basic Qualifications:

• MS in Chemical or Electrical Engineering.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in process control in the chemical industry.

• Knowledge in statistical analysis.

• Knowledge in computer program structure.

• Supervisory experience.

• Fluency in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD in Chemical Engineering.

• Computer programming experience in C++ and Visual Basic.

• Knowledge in SAS or JMP.

• Fluency in second language.

• Leadership training.
