The global Procurement & Transportation (P&T) Function is recognized as a critical function for business success.  It delivers the training, tools and opportunities needed to create innovative solutions for the function & the corporation.  P&T has leading edge, effective processes to anticipate and exceed customer requirements.

 

Scope of Position (i.e. projects involved with and role within group):
Overall planning, implementation, and optimization of all activities and support required for the buying and delivery of products and services.  Primary areas include procurement and contracting, supplier management, inventory management, logistics operations, supplier diversity, transportation and distribution and cost reduction.

Leader of Plant Procurement Team.  Supervision of the plant procurement coordinator.  Work with plant teams to meet Division and unit objectives for customer service, inventory, payment, and other operating efficiencies.

Position reports in the plant to the Supply Chain Manager on a direct basis and to the Director Procurement Operations on a matrix basis.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:
Plant Buying
- Manage supplier base and supply to the Harrodsburg plant
- Lead the development and implementation of local procurement strategy
- Plant procurement representative on Division commodity teams
- Responsible to support development and implementation of worldwide strategy for shared materials and suppliers for the Display Technologies Division
- Contract and price negotiations
- Owner of plant procurement cost reduction portfolio

Purchasing and Transportation (P&T) Transformation Initiative Site Champion. 
Site owner for deployment of P&T processes and initiatives (Procurement cards, e-sourcing, Global Buying Policy, RTP process redesign, etc.).  Transaction and payment consolidation with Corning Functional Services.

Travel Requirements (please note if international):
10%, majority within US
1 international trip per year possible

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:
8:00am - 5:00pm
Weekend team duty

Required Education (minimum required for consideration):

Minimum requirement is a Bachelor's degree
