Job Description Supplier Development Engineer (Mechanical) Position Duties Include: Actively seek out and pursue improvement opportunities within the global supply chain assigned. Lead and Support the Supplier Rationalization Plan from a technical standpoint, providing technical assessments of suppliers subject to rationalization. Support the product transfers generated by the Plan. Proactively influence specification errors or updates from early concept and R&D to achieve best position in cost and timing for supplier’s product launch. Align and document sourcing of materials with prints and specifications to achieve best total cost for operational success. Document and follow-through to assure a documented ISO process. Ensure that all processes & procedures that facilitate external supply are in line with ongoing requirements across the necessary Certifications (ISO9001/TL9000/ISO14001) and related legislative requirements. Organize early stage project activities to include suppliers and their input for early source selection and directional costing. Up to 50% travel required. Education and Experience Include: Minimum of BSME; Masters in Business preferred Minimum of 5 years experience, 10 years or more preferred, in the design and development of digital and analog circuits for embedded electronics 10 – 15 years experience in SDE functions, strategic sourcing support, manufacturing, project or product launch management, APQP, etc. Strong communication, interpersonal, negotiation, consensus-building, and analytical skills with the ability to work successfully in cross functional teams in an organized, fast paced environment while meeting time sensitive deadlines is a must. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Able to expedite and remove technical roadblocks for supplier success. Proven track record for improving throughput by through process excellence and related tools. Solid communication and documentation skills to achieve program success. ISO9000/ TL9000/ISO14001/TS16949 hands-on experience execution and knowledge. Low to Medium volume experience. Global manufacturing experience.Education: BachelorsJob Level: Experienced
