Cequent Towing Products (a TriMas company) is seeking a Supplier Manager to join our headquarters team located in Plymouth, Michigan.

 

As the market leader in towing products, functional vehicle accessories and cargo management solutions, Cequent Towing Products serves the installer, distributor, automotive original equipment manufacturer and retail market segments.

 

This position is responsible for:Purchasing various commodities, including material, equipment, and suppliesNegotiating prices and achieving cost reduction targetsNegotiating and administering contractsEvaluating vendor qualifications and service to determine most desirable suppliersLead cost reduction and cost avoidance initiativesMaintaining compliance with corporate and legal requirementsDeveloping good supplier relationships, and resolving grievances and claimsPreparing and processing requisitions and purchase ordersPresenting bid awards for management approval

 

Qualified applicants should have the following: Bachelor’s degree purchasing or related field preferred4-5 years purchasing or buying experience in related commodities, such as electronics, electrical assemblies, or steelPrior buying experience in automotive or after-marketDemonstrated skills in negotiating, analysis, written communicationCPM or CPIM preferred Competency in MicroSoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
