Tooling/Process Technician  

Position Description

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for development and support of manufacturing processes and improvements through (1) establishment and maintenance of routings, Layouts, Control Plans, FMEA, PPAPs, set-up methodology, and tool design (2) participation in identification, justification, qualification, and implementation of methods, tooling and equipment, each assuring statistically monitored processes fielding (Capability Studies) Cpks & Ppks about 1.67 at the lowest cost to the customer.  Process technician report to the Engineering Manager,  who has responsibility for decision making related to processes, tooling and tool design.  Primary working environment will involve engineers, various equipment sources, and tool builders as well as advisory and troubleshooting assistance for production personnel when requested.  Processes and projects can warrant occasional unusual work schedules.

 

SKILLS

 

Able to operate various production and support equipment safely and effectively.  Should be knowledgeable in machine operation, maintenance and repair, toolmaking, computer numerically controlled processes, blueprint reading and metrology.  Good verbal and written skills necessary to work with all organizational levels.  Good analytical and organizational skills to assess situational requirements and prioritize responsibilities effectively so that commitments are met in a timely manner. 

 

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

 

Two year degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Five years combined experience in metal-working and toolmaking which includes engine lathes, Mills, drills, surface, tool, cutter grinders, and CNC equipment.  Some training and/or experience with computers and drafting techniques preferred.
