Tax Accountant - Senior

Solar Turbines’ products include gas turbine engines (rated from 1590 to 30,000 horsepower), gas compressors, and gas turbine-powered compressor sets, mechanical-drive packages and generator sets (ranging from 1 to 23 megawatts). As the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), Solar has a global network of offices and facilities to support customers with a variety of service products and programs as well as an experienced technical support team. We currently have an opening for a Senior Tax Accountant.

 

This position is accountable for minimizing legal tax liabilities of the Company through determining tax liabilities, preparing tax returns and related schedules, submitting information to tax auditors and performing tax research studies. 

 

This position will be exposed to a variety of tax objectives that minimize tax risk with medium to high level of technical complexity including training of personnel in tax procedures and processes, implementing new tax software, and managing multiple tax audits.

 

Qualifications Include the Following:

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or an equivalent degree with at least 18 college units in Accounting required.

Minimum Accounting coursework GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.

Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale required.

Must be able to provide a copy of college transcript(s) (an unofficial copy is sufficient).

Minimum of 4 years of federal income, state income, payroll, sales, use, and/or property tax compliance required.

Experience with sales and use tax on a full-time basis is highly preferred.

Must be knowledgeable of sales and use tax across all states.

Minimum of 4 years work experience in administrating tax audits required.

Demonstrated leadership experience is preferred.

CPA and/or CMA preferred.

Sarbanes-Oxley experience preferred.

Experience in RIA, Vertex, and/or BaaN software is preferred.

Experience in a large manufacturing company is a plus.
