MAJOR PURPOSE OF POSITION
Generate accurate data for, and produce, parts, maintenance and operator's manuals for each machine sold, to be used internally and externally to stock and order parts and to help maintain the machine once it begins operation.

Job Functions:
1. Acquire electronic data in spreadsheet format for a new machine using current system applications.

2. Determine and collect existing similar-to electronic parts data. Generate electronic data from existing hardcopy where required. Generate parts lists for new assemblies or units. Convert new part sheet art work from existing system drawings. Perform minor editing to existing art work

3. Request vendor replacement parts lists and service procedures for new purchased components and generate vendor part sheets.

4. Determine and collect existing similar-to electronic maintenance and operator's documentation. Reformat and update existing electronic documents. Some translated documents may be involved. Perform minor document editing.

5. Review engineering change notices for items not included in the latest system data acquired.

6. Convert maintenance and operator's manuals to PDF format, create and load system objects for internal and external electronic viewing.


Additional Job Requirements:

Experience:
Either -
An associate degree in a technical field such as: mechanical engineering, commercial art, technical communication or equivalent and 5 years experience in generating service documents
Or -
A bachelor of science degree and 2 years experience in generating service documents
Or -
A total of 10 or more years experience in generating service documents.

Knowledge Requirements:
Must have a technical aptitude, be mechanically inclined, and have extensive experience with computers and spreadsheet/documentation software. Should be familiar with parts lists and their associated drawings. Should be able to interpret engineering drawings.

Organization and Planning:
Ability to collect and organize data from several sources.

Principal Challenges:
Accuracy is of the utmost importance, with additional requirements for rapid development of required data, converting data to and from several electronic formats, and working with network directories.

Communication:
Must be able to determine requirements and communicate with Engineering, Service and vendors to collect required data. Must also be able to indicate problem situations.

Cooperation:
Must be able to cooperate with all personnel involved in order to maintain productivity and ensure data integrity.
