Technical Buyer

For over a quarter century Underwater Kinetics, better known as UK, has been in the business of designing and manufacturing lights, containers and accessories for use in harsh environments. Our waterproof lights are the standard for scuba divers, fire fighters, utility workers and health and safety personnel. UK protective dry cases meet rigid standards set by OEMs to protect their products in challenging environments.

 We are currently seeking a Technical Buyer for our high-volume manufacturing operation based in Poway, CA.

 

Ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience in executing global supply chain management initiatives, and strategic planning, to include global procurement and sourcing. Candidates should possess strong organizational, technical, analytical, and negotiating skills, and maintain a thorough understanding of financial impact of decisions. Direct experience in plastics industry is required.

 

This position is responsible for leading the commercial agreement process by managing long-lead time material procurement agreements to issuing purchase orders, researching material specifications, sourcing potential suppliers,  and confirming qualifications to meet our manufacturing needs, to include negotiating schedule, insuring quality, price, contractual terms and delivery requirements based on schedules and on-time delivery goals.

 

Requirements:

 

Bachelor’s Degree and/or 10 plus years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing/engineered product environment. Combination of education and experience preferred.

 

CPM or C.P.I.M. is required

 

KANBAN/MRP experience

 

LEAN Manufacturing Principles

 

Computer Literacy: MRP, Microsoft Word, Excel

 

Strong Interpersonal, collaboration, and team skills a must

 



Occasional overseas travel may be required.
