Technical Manual Writer - Equipment Manufacturing


Responsible for “start to finish” creation and production oftechnical manuals/documentation to support the installation, operation and maintenanceof our equipment.

Responsible for maintenance of manuals and issuance of service bulletins andupdates.

Develops, writes, and edits material for manuals.

Observes production, developmental, and experimental activities to determineoperating procedure and detail.

Interviews production and engineering personnel and reads journals, reports,and other material to become familiar with product technologies and productionmethods.

Reviews manufacturer's and trade catalogs, drawings, and other data relative tooperation, maintenance, and service of equipment.

Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, parts lists, specifications, mock-ups,and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedure,and production sequence and detail.

Organizes material and completes writing assignment according to set standardsregarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.

Maintains records and files of work and revisions.

Selects photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustratematerial.
Prepares or arranges for preparation of index.

Reviews bills of material for accurate parts lists.

Assists in laying out material for publication. Arranges for formatting,reproduction, and distribution of material.

Requirements

4-year degree preferred, but will consider relevantexperience in lieu of education. Must have technical writing experience,preferably in manufacturing of complicated equipment. Must have proficiencyusing Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, experience with AutoCad aplus.   

Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel.
