Job Description Technical Instructor The LC/MS instructor position requires the ability of the candidate to teach external, and sometimes internal, clients the functionality of Thermo Fisher Scientific’s line of mass spectrometer instrumentation through facility based training courses and on-site customer visits.  Teaching is based, but not limited to, the following aspects: installations, applications, software, method development, troubleshooting, repair services and preventive maintenance.  Most importantly, the candidate will ensure customer satisfaction in all aspects of services provided.  The instructor will provide high level support and consultation to service personnel and customers in the North American marketplace.  Additional duties include assisting in developing and implementing plans to improve technical services and capabilities while working towards corporate / individual revenue and customer allegiance goals.  Travel anywhere from 30%-70% to provide customer site training.  The LC/MS instructor will be responsible for other duties as assigned by Technical Services Manager and/or Supervisor for Mass Spectrometry. The successful candidate will possess a PhD in a scientific discipline.  LC/MS experience will be considered in lieu of educational requirements.  This position requires extensive operations experience with LC/MS analysis of proteins and peptides; ideally with Thermo instrumentation.  This must include a deep working knowledge of the hardware, software and application details of LC/MS biotech applications.  Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are needed.  A detailed understanding of Windows based software, networking and PC hardware as well as computer applications such as spreadsheets and word processing is required.  Willingness to travel anywhere from 30 – 70% is required.  Education: DoctorateJob Level: Experienced
