Technical Trainer

Travel is required as the classes are held in regional locations, as well as locally in St. Paul.Essential Job Functions * Deliver technical controls training to sales offices, contractors, and customers * Design and develop training materials including presentations, workshops, and supporting materials * Acquire subject matter expertise in assigned control products and maintain expertise * Develop understanding of target audiences and participate in audience needs analysis * Provide analysis and selection of training delivery methods * Develop and identify new technologies for learning * Participate in training process improvement initiatives * Perform setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance of classroom equipment * Represent training on new product development teams * Lead cross-functional training development teams * Ability to travel * Ability to meet short- and long-term deadlines. * Effectively meet the needs of internal and external customers. * Ability to work regularly and dependably. * Ability to function in a team environment. * Demonstrate ability to cope with stress and maintain a pleasant and cooperative temperament with internal and external customers. * Demonstrate ability to perform mental tasks such as making decisions, learning, thinking rationally and exercising good judgment. * Other duties as assigned. Demonstrated presentation skills for technical audiences. * Ability to explain complex technical concepts to widely varied audiences. * Effective organizational, planning, and time management skills. * Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team-focused environment. * Ability to effectively handle pressure, time deadlines, and audience variables. * Proficiency in the use of software tools including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc. * Excellent written and oral communication skills. * Associate or bachelor’s degree in technical or educational field. HVAC, electronics, or computer science degree preferred. * Technical aptitude is a must. * 4-6 years experience with HVAC systems, controls, and automation. Willingness to maintain and update own knowledge of product and content. * Experience with Trane products such as Tracer Summit, Rover, and unit controls a plus. * Experience with I.S. technologies, networks (LAN/WAN), Microsoft Windows Server technologies/SQL server a plus. * Demonstrated presentation skills for technical audiences.
