Providing temperature-controlled environments for food and other perishables are essential in today’s global market. Through our Climate Control Technologies sector and Thermo King and Hussmann brands, we provide global solutions for the transportation and retail refrigeration market.
We are currently seeking an experienced Territory EHS Leader at our Grand Rapids or Detroit, MI location.
Establish, implement and monitor all EHS practices, policy and programs designed within the corporate philosophy to safeguard the well being of employees at work or home (wellness). Provide local managers with specific actions to assure compliance with all laws. Evaluate and provide direction for programs to minimize physical and financial exposure from potential or actual risks. Facilitate, coordinate and/or train employees as necessary. Audit EHS program and accomplished field audit to assure program sustainability.
As a Territory EHS Leader you will:
Responsible for assisting management/supervision in the aspects of Environmental, Safety and Health (ESH), including regulatory compliance and worker’s compensation or social security, at the branch locations within the Territory. Visit each site in the Territory on a regular schedule as approved by Regional EHS Manager. Attend site manager/supervisor meetings to discuss EHS issues and support programs and projects. Act as a consultant/advisor to managers and supervisors in the territory.
Assist managers and supervision to ensure that technicians and appropriate branch personnel complete required EHS training as defined by policy. Assist Supervisors and others as needed to perform the training or to conduct Train the Trainer.
Educate facility management on EHS, Wellness, and Worker’s Compensation/Social Security related programs and policies as set forth by regulation or communicated corporate directive. Assist in development of strategies to reduce absenteeism and cost associated with injury/illness rates, as well as implement proactive health, safety & environmental programs. Share best practices with other safety representatives and leadership. Assist site Designated Safety Representatives (DSRs) with issues related to EHS.
Track the completion of toolbox talks, jobsite safety inspections, warehouse inspections, service ride-alongs, and other proactive safety activities. Visit construction jobsites to monitor the successful implementation of EHS programs. Assist management/supervision in conducting accident investigations.
Assist during audits and inspections including an annual self-assessment of each site in the Territory. Review the third party audit findings. Assure corrective actions and timely responses to non-compliance issues. Act as a contact person for government agencies.
Ensure location DSRs complete reporting requirements to IRESH, governmental agencies, customer inquiries and other inquiries as required. Analyze and review monthly reports for trends and action items. Analyze field audits monthly and report to ESH Regional Manager and Territory GM.
Monitor contractor activities as they relate to EHS including training requirements.
Maintain Territory Fleet Program if defined by Territory General Manager.
Maintain Refrigerant Compliance Program.
Continue education to assure up to date knowledge of EHS & Workers Compensation/Social Security management and professional development.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical, Safety, Engineering or minimum 2 years working experience in a safety related position.
Travel 10% - 20% of the time in addition to field-work.
Must have completed 30 Hr OSHA Training in Construction or equivalent within 12 months of assignment.
Must have completed HM-121/HM-126 and Emergency Response training or equivalent within 12 months of assignment.
Must have training in EPA Refrigerant Compliance regulations or equivalent within 12 months.
