Position Overview

As the test engineering manager you will be responsible developing test strategies, hardware, and software to validate the performance of A123 Systems’ extraordinary new Lithium Ion battery systems in a production environment. You will be working with customers, development engineers and manufacturing to design and build test systems that ensure the product meets customer requirements in the exciting fields of transportation, alternative energy, and other battery-energized applications. 

 

Primary responsibilitiesInteract with customers, hardware development engineers and manufacturing engineers to develop production test strategies that meet customer, design and manufacturing requirements. Create hardware and/or software based automated test systems from custom-designed hardware or standard off-the-shelf systems as necessary.Maintain standard configuration management and design development practices.Document and maintain automated test processes as well as best practices and test standards according to industry and customer specific requirements.  Oversee the development of sub-contracted test systems by contract manufacturers as they become involved in the manufacturing and testing of A123 Systems products.

 

Specific Skills/AbilitiesHardware design – Familiarity with general circuit design and reading circuit schematics required.Experience with battery and power systems is helpful. Software design – Familiarity with one or more programming languages like C, C++, Visual Basic, Perl, and Labview is required.Experience in automated software testing of firmware and software used in medium to high volume manufactured product is necessary.Excellent organizational skills are a bonus.Good communication skills, both oral and written is expected

 

Education/Experience

· Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or technical field is required.

· 5+ years experience in automated software or hardware test systems design
