Job Description
The Toyota Production System Engineer’s responsibilities include, but not limited to:
1. Develop the lean operating system in a unique manufacturing business. Implement the lean strategy for the business to produce best quality, lowest cost, shortest lead-time, best safety, and highest morale through shortening the production flow by eliminating waste.
2. Provide technical support for daily production activities to Corporate and actively participate in problem solving for safety, productivity and quality improvements with the client’s major client, suppliers, headquarters and production plants.
3. Assist in the development of standardized work using TPS principles.
4. Manage assigned projects (model changes, Kaizen, Kan-Ban and JIT)
5. Actively participate in problem solving issues with clients, suppliers and production plants.
6. A team player with solid people skills, and a leader with strong ability to influence people, events, and outcomes.
Qualifications
The successful candidate needs to have the following:
1. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent experience/education.
2. Currently employed with a MINIMUM five years hands-on, front-line operations leadership experience with durable goods, non-union, manufacturing company is required. Manufacturing production operations experience with a demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding targeted production levels to support growth is required. Custom build to order industry/manufacturing process experience is highly preferred.
3. Lean experience MUST include wall-to-wall lean (TPS) manufacturing transformation and implementation results leadership. Experience implementing the Toyota Production System from scratch is highly desired.
4. Lean knowledge and experience MUST include advanced applications of value stream mapping, value stream analysis, visual management, standard work, set-up reduction, JIT, Jidoka, Heijunka, and Kaizen.
5. Demonstrated people and teamwork leadership development skills with the innate capability to solve problems on the shop floor are required. Experience with a skilled trades workforce is highly desired.
Compensation/Benefits
The base compensation is between $55,000 to $65,000. The company offers an outstanding benefit program that includes medical, dental, 401K, etc and relocation assistance is available.
