Transportation Planner

DESCRIPTION / RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Daily execution of the transportation plan for assigned US McCormick distribution centers, manufacturing facilities and copackers.
- Ensure that the optimal transportation plan is achieved while maintaining established customer service levels.
- Modal considerations include TL, LTL, Intermodal, and Package.
- Communicate with Customer Service, shipping/receiving personnel across divisions, our vendor’s Logistics/ Distribution personnel, and our freight carriers.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule and overtime, as required.

QUALIFICATIONGS:
- Ability to communicate internally and externally the requirements of the transportation plan while ensuring the optimal transportation plan is achieved.
- Ability to analyze data to make cost/service decisions is required.
- Knowledge of and the ability to work effectively with freight consolidation or Transportation Management System software is required.
- Knowledge of transportation strategies, regulations and policies is required.
- Strong problem solving and organizational skills is required.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be an outstanding team player.
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Office is required.

Additional Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree required in one of the following areas of concentration, Business Administration, Distribution, Logistics or Transportation with 1 to 2 years experience in Transportation, Distribution, Materials Management, Purchasing and/or Logistics OR Bachelor’s Degree preferred with 5 to 7 years progressive work experience.
