Value Stream Assembly Lead

RESPONSIBILITIES

·  Supply quality product to customer’s on-time.

·  Continually provide ideas for process improvements and changes to improve quality, productivity, and/or functionality.

·  Work with Value Stream Manager and others to develop, maintain, and implement improvements in operating metrics.

·  Accountable for the safety of employees and cleanliness of designated manufacturing area.

·  Responsible for technical training, coaching, team building, and skill development of the employees in the designated value stream.

·   Daily Value Stream Walks:

§  Looking for proper flow, disruptions to flow, and adherence to standard work instructions

§  Coaching employees, defect data analysis, and talking with operators about disruptions and ideas on continuous improvements.

·  Evaluate forecasted demand and plan resource development, inventory levels, and machine requirements as necessary.

·  Develop and plan metric improvements, i.e. OTD, Schedule attainment, Pitch, Productivity

·  Work with other VS Supervisors to develop and administer consistent departmental and corporate policies.

·  Maintain regular and reliable attendance and flexible hours to meet value stream demands.

·  Work with quality to respond to customer issues.

 

ESSENTIAL INTERPERSONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Success in this position requires frequent communication with peers and management.  These relationships must be built on respect, integrity, cooperation, teamwork and professionalism. Key individual to ensure company goals and objectives for the value stream are achieved. Must ensure that necessary resources are available for employees to achieve goals.The VS Supervisor must be comfortable taking initiative and recommending solutions for production issues to management and then relay answers back to employees with in the work area.Accountable for all production and quality issues that occur within the value stream.  This accountability is not limited to only the shift, as product integrity moves with each part into to the next production phase. Failure to actively maintain and encourage these constructive relationships will significantly impact success in this position. 

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:The VS Supervisor holds ultimate accountability for quality, on time delivery, training, process improvement and employee performance issues.

·  May require opening and closing the production premises.

·  Perform all other duties as assigned.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·  Associates Degree required

·  Two years of demonstrated experience (2 years in a VS Leader role a plus) in the following skills: Requires knowledge of LEAN processes, tools, methods and philosophy.

·  Must be knowledgeable in administrative procedures; manufacturing and/or engineering documentation, work schedules, set-ups, methods and procedures; equipment operation. 

·  Must possess necessary interpersonal and leadership skills, written, verbal and other technical skills to properly direct, assist and train personnel. D

·  Demonstrated computer literacy especially working with Microsoft Excel and Word. In lieu of an Associates Degree four years of production experience is required.
