Value Stream Machining Leader

RESPONSIBILITIES
· Responsible for coordinating production sequence and interfacing with all aspects of the supply chain.
· Responsible for maintaining “Standard Work” and to contain disruptions to flow.
· Responsible for troubleshooting and correcting disruptions to flow.
· Keep VS Supervisor informed of actual or anticipated schedule problems, material shortages, tool or equipment problems, procedural deficiencies, safety, 5S or material handling discrepancies or employee relation matters that may come to their attention.
· Provide direct leadership in focusing on work area level metrics and in the pursuit of ever increasing performance. Continually provides ideas for process improvements and changes made to improve quality, productivity, and/or functionality.
· Assist in planning, laying out work assignments, test or inspection sequences, tool and equipment care and maintenance, and methods within their work area.
· Work from documentation such as engineering drawings, changes or notices, or production and shipping schedules. Ensure that the company standard procedures are followed in connection with the manufacturing of material.
· Administer application of company personnel and policies including safety/health, and routine working rules and regulations.
· Supports and ensures that all quality and process initiatives that are driven through the organization by management, are supported and accomplished by the group.
· Assist with training for new or improved work methods.
· Provide feedback with respect to Reject Reports and other Quality related issues to prevent re-occurrence.
· Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
ESSENTIAL INTERPERSONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· The VS Machining Leader must be comfortable taking initiative and recommending solutions for production issues to management and then relay answers back to employees with in the work area. The VS Machining Leader must work with other VS Leaders to redistribute resources as necessary.
· Success in this position requires frequent communication with peers and management. These relationships must be built on respect, integrity, cooperation, teamwork and professionalism.
· Must translate corporate/management production goals into quantifiable results. Clearly communicate any issues that would prevent the achievement of production goals.
· Accountable for all production and quality issues that occur within the group shift. This accountability is not limited to only the shift, as product integrity moves with each part into to the next production phase.

QUALIFICATIONS:
· High School Graduate or equivalent with vocational training preferred.
· Requires knowledge and ability to satisfactorily perform any and all duties and functions expected to their job classification and of all classifications assigned to them.
· Must be knowledgeable in administrative procedures; manufacturing and/or engineering documentation, work schedules, set-ups, methods and procedures; equipment operation.
· Have the competency to do setups and call up machine programs in his/her perspective area.
· Must be knowledgeable and able to perform safety and housekeeping requirements; as well as other associated material, administrative, operational or employee relations matters that may affect their work area or assignments.
· Must possess necessary interpersonal and leadership skills, written, verbal and other technical skills to properly direct, assist and train personnel.
· Good computer skills required.
· History of proven leadership experience. Must be able to communicate well with all levels of management and different job functions.
· FIVE years direct or relative experience in a manufacturing environment required.
· LEAN experience preferred.
