Value Stream Manager

The Value Stream Manager will be responsible for driving and reporting Lean Flow implementation and continuous improvement company-wide.

The Value Stream Manger will be required to make change happen throughout the organization.

 

Mellano & Company is a wholesale flower grower with farming locations in Oceanside and Carlsbad, California, and wholesale sales & distribution locations in Carlsbad, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, California and Las Vegas, Nevada.

            

The primary objective of the value stream manager is to coordinate and facilitate the daily operations of the assigned Value Stream(s) to provide adequate resources, on-going work direction and problem solving to ensure business goals are met under the guidelines of the company policies and procedures.

 

 The major areas of accountability will be a change agent and drive out waste throughout the entire organization through the deployment of the Lean methodology, responsible for identification of continuous improvement initiatives.Some goals: Actively participate in and lead Kaizen events with department heads and supervisors Lead the development of current and future state value stream maps and continuous improvement plans, as well as the implementation of those plans across the value stream Be highly visible to staff and peers and promote hands-on, high involvement approaches to problem solving Support new product development by driving the operations requirements for assigned value stream. Review/Ensure success of the day-to-day production activities within the value stream while driving improvements. Lead cross functional performance improvements.  Drive cross-functional execution and track performance through the use of existing tracking tools Assure a clean and safe working environment for all employees, emphasizing prevention of potential problems and unsafe conditions Responsible for developing and monitoring standard work and quality standards Perform layered process audits and quality audits Manage resources of the assigned areas of the value stream. Manage assigned resources to or below budgetary levels, and assist manager in budget development

               

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for managing productivity levels with division managers which will require travel to the different locations. Continuously improve productivity, flow and  through the implementation of Lean principles Decrease product shrinkage levels and identify all forms of waste for elimination Manage cost as a % of net sales. Manage within the forecasted budget

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

 

Ability to apply lean manufacturing concepts (layouts, material, performance to Takt, etc) Ability to lead and coordinate multi-functional team projects Ability to develop leaders Four year College Degree and/or 5 + years of  operations experience Lean Environment & Implementation experience a plus Standard PC skills (Office Suite, etc) Masters Degree a plus

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS Able to communicate effectively in the English language.  Ability to communicate in Spanish a plus.
