WELDING SUPERVISOR II

SUMMARY:

 

This position’s primary responsibility will be to oversee productions, supervision, and order processing activity.  Ensures employee safety, product recovery, and allocation of assets and labor in an efficient manner.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

· Responsible for specific single sector within a department

· Must be able to weld and/or braze metals, steel, and/or copper as required per job assignment

· Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings

· Must have significant experience with multiple disciplines – gas, mig, brazing; considerable set-up experience

· Plans work within limits of established procedure on parts, sub-assemblies, or complete assemblies

· Sets up parts, sub-assemblies, and complete assemblies to be welded with the aid of jigs and fixtures

· Aligns and positions various components in proper relationship to one another and welds in proper sequence

· Set-up welding machine for welding parts or assemblies of light weight material involving seams, flanges, and edges; butt and lap welding of parts and assemblies involved in the fabrication of furnaces

· Includes brazing of parts which are to be machined using exacting tolerances where overall penetration is a vital factor and must be uniform

· Completes repair and rework as required; must be able to perform all duties and responsibilities included in Gas MIG Welder

· Ensures that inventory listings, costs of goods, production recoveries, and labor costs are recorded accurately and meet or exceed pre-established standards

· Ensures that minimum/maximum inventories are kept at a level that allows for complete, on time filling of orders, and that correct product for all productions line are ordered in a timely manner and are kept on-hand in sufficient quantity

· Schedules production activity with the highest contribution to overhead as priority

· Trains, supervises, motivates, and handles discipline issues for area of responsibility

· Sets daily productivity goals, monitors production progress in the plant, meets or exceeds productions goals

· Ensures that coordination of productions, warehouse, and shipping result in efficient, safe and secure operation of the facility

· Works closely with other employees, management, and departments

· Communicates productions goals to department leadership in area of responsibility

· Responsible for consistent shift operation according to established procedures and processes

· Measure of effectiveness will be consistently high ratings on conducted process and procedure audits

· Must have working knowledge of all job titles included within scope of supervision

· Must perform all work in accordance with all applicable safety procedures

· Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

· To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty efficiently, safely and in an acceptable manner

· High school diploma, general education degree (GED) acceptable; 2-year degree or technical training preferred; minimum 3-years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience

· Knowledge and experience within a manufacturing environment a must

· Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills required

· Proficient in various computer software

· Bilingual Spanish a plus

· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; follow written and/or verbal orders; read, write, speak and comprehend English

· Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

· Capacity to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions; deal with problems involving variable in standardized situations; understand fundamental flow of shop material and its problems or material handling
