PRIMARY FUNCTION A. To proficiently weld in at least one of the following three areas and maintain a high level of quality.Area 1 - Fabrication of the TankAble to work in all of the following areas: sidewalls, end walls, and set-up. Area 2 - Fabrication of Components (externals)Able to work in the following areas: A-set-up, B-set-up, LA Brkt, Small Components, plus Cubicles, Conservators, and Turrets. Area 3 - Fabrication of the Tank Cover & Core ClampsAble to work in both of the following areas: Covers and Clamps. B. Combination – proficient in more than (1) area.TYPICAL DUTIES1. Receive assignments and instructions from supervisor, both verbal and written, and obtain shop documents & prints needed. 2. Read and understand schedule and work flow requirements. 3. Get materials from storage or queuing areas, and complete kits with miscellaneous hardware and small parts. 4. Layouts own work. 5. Weld components with appropriate techniques and repair if defective. 6. Be able to read, understand and follow guidelines set forth by E. I. ’s, M. P.’s, O. I. C. ’s, and blueprints when performing assigned work. 7. Keep tools, equipment and work area clean and orderly. Visually check equipment for normal operation. Verify crane at beginning of the shift (crane cables & limit switches), and man lifts. 8. Perform minor equipment repairs and machine maintenance. 9. Inspect welding processes, materials, etc. for conformance to design criteria, applicable specifications, and inspection procedures. 10. Produce the product accurately within the established standard. 11. Use SFLC system accurately. Punch in and out. 12. Help with follow-up training of peers as required to support team production requirements. 13. Investigate potential and actual non-conformances, and recommend corrective action. MATERIALS: Mild steels, alloy and stainless steels, steel castings, copper, copper alloys, Easy Flo 45, Silphos, flux grinding discs, anti-spatter, welding wire.GENERALWorks under general supervision. Able to layout and fabricate materials. Has working knowledge of welding processes. Requires hand and eye coordination to make adequate welds meeting various welding specifications for in plant certification. The work involves exposure to smoke, heat, and fumes. Safe working practices must be followed to avoid cuts, flash burns, and burns from handling steel. Work varies from working at ground level to working in, on top of, and around the sides of the unit, which may be 15 feet or more in height. SPX is an EOE.
