A/C & REFRIGERATION MECHANIC




Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

A 1st Class A/C Technician should be able to perform all daily tasks within the A/C Dept. without supervision.

Full understanding of the basic theory of refrigerant cycle



Full understanding of condensing temperatures/pressure and sub cooling



Full understanding of absorption of heat and evaporation and super heat



Understanding of BTU



Understand the use and the name of different tools



Understanding of the different types and usage of tubing, piping and fitting



Understanding of basic electric Alternating Current & Direct Current



Understand electric motors AC & DC



Understand theory of operation of: Compressors, TXV’s Cap tubes, Evaporators/chiller barrel, Condenser (air and water), Sea water pump, Chill water pump, Pipe sizing of water and refrigerant, Cold plates



Setting of super heat and sub cooling



Understanding control of oil flow and refrigerant oil in the compressor



Understand different type and uses of single component and blend refrigerant



Understanding control circuits, relays, contactors and starters



Understanding of capacitors and testing



Understanding of thermostats (electronic and mechanical) pressure switches (high and low) and low switches



Knowledge of how to properly fill a system without sight glass



Knowledge matching (sizing) component compressors, evaporators, condensers, pumps and refrigerant lines



Sizing ducts to different AC systems



Troubleshooting, operations and maintenance of all aspects of the systems



Full knowledge of soldering and silver soldering



Monitor, comply and adhere to all safety standards

Education/Experience

High School diploma or its equivalent required



Over 5 years experience in the field or in a related area.



ABYC certification a plus



Refrigerant transition and recovery certification, universal certification required



Refrigerant 410A certification required



Previous Yachting industries experience a plus.
