The Marine Yard Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing yard service managers, staffing of trades and delivering the planned financial results for the particular yard (full P&L responsibility). You will help ensure that the service yard performance meets customer expectations and Hinckley quality standards while delivering the contracted repair or retrofit service on schedule.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Hire, schedule, train and counsel all yard personnel to meet or exceed all service delivery schedules. This also encompasses staff development, mentoring, training and coaching Identify and sell service work to customers, detailing the scope of and budget for the work and negotiating a contract with the customerWork closely with supervisors/leaders of the skilled trades and purchasing in planning, organizing, and scheduling the work to be completedIdentify up-sell opportunities and sell them to the customerAttend bid meetings and site visits with customers to develop work scopePrepare project budgets, cost estimates, including proposals from sub-contractors, engineers, designers and suppliers. Monitor project progress to ensure conformance to standards, schedule, costs, and goalsProject accounting including budget control, change orders, etc. Manage projects be developing scopes of work, accurate labor estimates, selecting quality sub-contractors, soliciting bids, scheduling work with customers, developing material lists and optimizing in-house labor forceAchieve stated financial performance goals, service quality level expectations, and improve operational processesDevelop and mange annual operating expense budget. Provide written variance analysis and forecast to Corporate office as neededResponsible for meeting all established operating expense targets Develop yard specific multi-year capital improvement project plans. Manage the process to complete capital improvement projectsManage sub-contractors and vendors relationshipsEnsure facility procedures comply with local, state and federal regulationsCreate and review forecasting reports to ensure business leaders have effective information to make decisions regarding yard’s performance
Qualifications:
Must have a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the marine industry ideally having managed a full service boat yard.Must have experience managing 5 or more direct reports. Must have experience identifying training needs, tracking performance, coaching and motivating direct reports.Must possess strong leadership skills and ability to function at a high-level in a process, fast-paced environment Demonstrated Project Management skills as well as sales driven enthusiasm. Entrepreneurial drive with outlook on growth, development and accomplishment. Ability to manage multiple projects on time and on budget, often concurrentlyDetail oriented, organized and pro-active with constructive problem solving skillsStrong customer service skills and ability to work with others in a team environmentExcellent communication skills and the ability to work as a team with other company membersAbility to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex business documents and write reports. Ability to effectively respond to sensitive issues, complex inquiries from customers, co-workers, supervisors, and management. Must have proven ability to make effective presentation to employees, customers, and management.Position requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and ability to forecast and prepare budgets. Requires advance analytical and quantitative skillsIntermediate skills with Microsoft Office SuiteSome travel required
