Summary: As a Deck Officer, he/she is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and navigation of a hopper dredge while supervising the crew.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Navigation of Dredge. Communication with traffic in the area of the Dredge. Maintain the Dredge's position while dredging. Provide instruction to the Dragtender by directing the loading and dumping of dredge material. Maintain logs. Update and correct navigational charts, publications, and other regulations. Inspect lifesaving and firefighting equipment aboard the dredge. Assist the Dredge Captain and field personnel to keep production high and downtime to a minimum. Supervise and assist the deck crew performing maintenance duties during periods when the dredge is in an idle status.  Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 12 hours per day / 3 weeks on, 3 weeks off  Travel required

Education and/or Experience: Dredging experience preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Minimum of a 3rd Mate Unlimited Oceans Licenses; STCW '95 Certificate; and Radar Certification Required.

Physical Demands: Ability to lift 50lbs., endure normal weather conditions and rough seas, stand for long periods of time, climbing, tolerate vibrations and high noise levels.
