Explore the Opportunity:As a Quality Receiving Inspection Technician in the Quality group you will maintain receiving inspection testing procedures, practices, and standard evaluation methods that will ensure product quality and integrity. This requires utilizing and maintaining laboratory instruments and equipment to help analyze, control, and minimize product variations; as well as, writing complex programs for Coordinate Measuring Machines and other inspection and test equipment that result in a comprehensive report format. Major tasks where a candidate is expected to excel are as follows:' Perform dimensional first article inspections of complex parts used in the assembly of electric trolling motors, mounting systems and electrical propulsion units.' Write programs for CMM's and other computer controlled or computer assisted inspection and test equipment.' Produce comprehensive reports including S.I.R., PPAP Dimensional Analysis, and PPAP Measurement System Analysis that clearly describe inspection results.' Create, understand, and define statistical reports; e.g., histograms, control charts, etc.' Support MRB Non Conforming Material Process, maintain and distribute MRB data as required.' May suggest design changes or recommend improvements in production methods through FMEA and Lean Six Sigma teams.' Conducts mathematical calculations of moderate complexity.' May lead or take part in formal problem solving teams including completion of Corrective Action requests.' Input data and results into legacy and Oracle applications.' May direct the work of lower level technicians, inspectors. Coordinate new OEM prospects, upgrades and/or terminations. To be most successful in the opportunity, your background should include:' Ablity to perform basic mathematical calculations and basic statistics.' Proficient knowledge of PC software including the latest Windows software applications.' Working knowledge of PC'DMIS CMM programming software, and CAD system skills.' Working knowledge of Blueprint and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.' Verbal, written, and computer graphic communication skills necessary to effectively present data and information to internal and external customers, including management and engineering.' Ability to lead, direct, and instruct others in related job functions.' Working knowledge of gage calibration techniques and methods.' Thorough knowledge of inspection techniques, metrology methods, tolerances, blueprint reading, routings, S.P.C. techniques, personal computers, and general manufacturing practices.' Excellent organizational, communication and follow-up skills.' Ability to reason through problems and suggest workable solutions.' Ability to guide supervision in making proper decisions relative to product and process control issues.' Ability to perform duties independently consulting supervisor for only occasional exceptions.' Understanding of Lean Six Sigma DMAIC tools and the 5S process.' Ability to be flexible and able to control diverse priorities and assignments.' Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays, as needed.' Able to travel occasionally to other Mercury plants, suppliers, etc.' General Safety Training ' Associates degree or post high school equivalent education in a specialized technical/scientific field.' Six or more years experience in dimensional inspection techniques with hands on experience on CMM.'
