Associate Plastics Engineer

Position Description:
This is an entry level learning position in support of senior level staff. Specifically, working on plastic sterile medical disposables for cardiovascular devices. This role participates in the design and development of new products. The individual will work as a member of a cross functional team including design, manufacturing, quality, regulatory and program management. The position is available at the Indianola, Pa facility. Primary Responsibilities:1. Lead or support design, development and implementation of new products.2. Communicate design requirements within a cross-functional team environment. This will also include communication and direction given to external supply base.3. Conduct or direct testing in a lab environment to verify concept designs.4. Support verification and validation of production intent product.5. Use CAE tools (CAD, FEA, Moldflow, CFD) to develop and analyze product designs.6. Research and develop new technologies associated with sterile medical disposable products.7. Provide knowledge of plastics material properties and manufacturing including: material selection, injection molding process, extrusion process, thermoforming process, bonding and assembly.8. Fulfills requirements defined by others.9. Supports development of one design element at a time within a selected discipline.10. Acquired knowledge of the product and clinical applications.11. Participates in design reviews for education. a. Performs proof of predefined: concept, performance, characteristics, verification testing and writes reports.Technical / Behavioral Requirements: 1. Strong understanding of material properties and applications of plastics.2. Working knowledge of plastics processing including injection molding, extrusion, and thermoforming.3. Strong competency in the use of lab equipment including Instron, melt flow tester, and data logging devices. 4. 0 - 2 years of experience or academic understanding of engineering/scientific principles.5. Bachelor’s Degree.6. Proven awareness of other technical disciplines.7. Proving understanding of basic tools and technologies.8. Proven ability to support development of one design element at a time within a selected discipline.9. Working knowledge and proven skills of PC computer operating system including Microsoft office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint). 10. Strong competency in Customer Focus, Driving for Results, Integrity and Trust, Ethics and Values and Compassion. 11. Proven ability to demonstrate at minimum, MEDRAD’s Team Contributor competencies: Action Oriented, Perseverance, Dealing with Ambiguity, Learning on the fly and Problem Solving.
