Job Description Director, Human Resources Organization Characteristics: · Fiscal Year 2007 Revenue: $140M Revenues, Operating Profit 36%· 925 employees, with primary populations in Portsmouth, NH, Romont, Switzerland, and Braunschweig, Germany; Additional populations in Holtsville, NY and Naugatuck, CT· 4 Direct Reports; partnership with global HR leaders in support of international locations Position Summary: Primary responsibility is to provide Human Resource leadership to the Slides & Specialty Glass (SSG) Organization. Specific responsibilities include: · Work as a key member of the leadership team in developing HR strategies that support the business initiatives. Must have strong business acumen to translate business needs into HR strategies and initiatives. Plan, develop, implement, and administrate HR processes and programs that increase the productivity, competence, and effectiveness of the SSG organization. Define and execute upon HR requirements that are aligned with the Diagnostic Division’s strategic and operating plans. Contribute and align to both division- and company-wide HR policies and standards development through interaction with Division Human Resources Vice President and the global divisional HR team. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Ensure alignment of HR processes and programs with business/site strategic and operating goals. Counsels and/or coaches employees and managers regarding employee relations issues including performance management, facilitation of formal/informal complaints to resolution, discipline and/or terminations, etc. in line with local culture and the business and legal environment. Provides leadership in, and promotion of, a positive One Thermo Fisher company culture by being an advocate for employees while achieving a balance with all levels of company goals. Assists managers in assessing and identifying resources to meet employee/departmental training needs and encouragement of employees to continuously develop their skills in their field of work. Management of the annual performance and salary reviews, managing the business unit’s compensation (base and variable) programs, providing decision guidance to managers, etc. Assist in the hiring of new employees by performing various recruiting functions, including staffing coordination, job requisition management, offer letters, etc Provides management with relevant reports as needed. Maintains legally compliant and accurate personnel files. Responsible for oversight and coordination of SSG’s HR Operations, including payroll and benefits administration Responsible for oversight and coordination of any regulatory requirements including OSHA compliance, Equal Employment Opportunity, etc. Strategic partner with business leadership on all potential merger & acquisition activity including strong HR leadership for integration efforts that may result. Qualifications: BA/BS required, MA/MS preferred PHR/SPHR and/or other Professional Certifications desirable 8 -10 years of direct experience in all aspects of human resources (business partnering, staffing, compensation, employee relations and organizational development) in mid- to large-size companies Experience supporting multiple manufacturing operations (or substantial non-exempt population) strongly preferred. Ability to garner trust, respect, and support through business knowledge, functional competence, and professionalism Proven experience in implementing programs and processes that yield positive results Exposure to process improvement efforts (i.e. six sigma, practical process improvement) a plus. Proven consultative HR experience, with a strong bias for action and results Skill Requirements: Business knowledge/orientation Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Ability to use a high level of tact, diplomacy, discretion and empathy/understanding in a global environment across multiple cultures at all levels of the workforce. Must possess strong computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and email, HRIS, etc. Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and manage associated workloads. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Self motivated and directed; Effective negotiating and influencing skills.
