Director of International Sales

General Position Description:Responsible for organization's international medical device distribution sales, objectives, and initiatives. Must stay current with international variances in cultural and legal issues as pertaining to sales. Familiar with a variety of the medical device industry concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals for growth.

 

Primary Duties Manages sales force to achieve sales and profit goals outside of the United States. Develops new prospects and interact with international customers to increase sales of the organization's products and/or services. Train international sales representatives for products used in the surgical environment  Resolve international customer complaints regarding sales and service. Monitor international customer performance to determine focus of sales efforts. Review operational records and reports to project sales and determine profitability and budgets. Advise distributors on policies and operating procedures to ensure functional effectiveness of business. Represent company at international trade shows to promote products. Confer with potential international customers regarding equipment needs and advise customers on types of equipment to purchase.

 

General ResponsibilitiesWork effectively internally with Accounting, Quality, Production and Engineering personnel in a team environment to develop multi-functional solutions for  customers. Maintain a customer-focused perspective in all activities initiated to ensure that customer needs are successfully met. Develop professional expertise to provide improved assistance to customers.  Perform job duties accurately so that other personnel and departments, and ultimately customers receive correct information and/or product. Perform special projects as assigned to assist in the success of the company.

The International Sales Associates achievement will be evaluated according to the following:

 

Planning: Manages workflow to meet deadlines, while efficiently using resources.



Communication and Teamwork: Clearly articulate needs, ideas, issues in a constructive manner, solve problems, and contribute in a team environment.  Assist other team members in completing work, as required.



Managing and Developing Personnel: Keep external personnel (capital resources) focused and challenged by identifying and providing opportunities and resources to develop skills and maintain external competitiveness.



Customer Focus: Maintain a focus on addressing external and internal customer needs and requirements in all activities.



Personal Initiative: Demonstrate willingness to be involved in company activities internal and external to own department.  Conduct duties in a self-motivated and proactive manner.  Initiate continuous improvement and problem solving efforts.



Problem Resolution: Apply ideas, concepts, knowledge and resources, to develop solutions and approaches to internal and external customer issues and problems in an effective and timely manner



Productivity and Quality: Execute all duties in the appropriate amount (volume), time, level of detail, and degree of accuracy, to meet internal and external customer requirements and needs. 



Relationships: Act in a professional manner, exercising pleasant and courteous mannerisms, treating others with dignity and respect, and focusing on conflict minimization and collaborative solutions.  Recognize internal co-workers as customers.



Cost Control: Identify and implement cost reduction ideas and solutions.

 

Requirements & QualificationsRequires a bachelors degree in business or related field.Minimum three years international sales distribution experience. Experience in the Medical Device industry a must. Excellent communication, organizational and multi-tasking skills to communicate effectively with foreign customers.

 Work Environment & Physical Requirements Foreign languages a plus Work in a standard office environment utilizing a computer and normal office equipment (e.g., copier, fax).  Extended working hours may be required to assist distributors in a variety of time zones. Frequent travel to foreign countries required. May need to be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
