Director of Tax

This position is responsible for responsible for developing a tax organization and staff to support the needs of the business including tax planning, policies & procedures, and continued compliance with tax reporting requirements.   The position requires the ability to interact effectively with financial and operational people across the company. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Responsible for building the tax department that will support the day to day processes, procedures and controls for all transactions to support the needs of the business.   2. Oversee tax accounting, reporting and compliance processes, including tax provisions, estimated taxes, income tax returns, property taxes, sales & use taxes, franchise taxes, business licenses and all other miscellaneous tax filings.  3. Research and respond to federal, state, local and foreign tax notices to ensure the Company is in compliance as necessary (i.e. advises management on needed actions; communicate with attorneys, tax specialists and others to ensure timely tax reporting requirements, etc.)   4. Support the Company’s strategic and operational planning and forecasting processes by analyzing the impact of both proposed and enacted changes in tax law, changes in the business, etc.   5. Assist with various special projects on an ad-hoc basis. 6. Collaborate with a broad range of internal stakeholders, including executive management, financial reporting, legal and operational people. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:   Education: § BA/BS in accounting or finance.  § MBT, MBA or CPA preferred.   Experience: § Eight to ten years of tax experience.  § A minimum of three years of supervisory experience. § Possess a strong foundation in U.S. and International technical tax rules and regulations. § Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP as it pertains to tax.   Other Skills: § High standard of integrity. § On time, on schedule focus. § General business acumen. § Team orientation and ability to deal cross functionally and build the needed creditability with the business units and project teams.  § Ability to work across cultures. § Outstanding analytic skills and attention to detail. Strong numbers aptitude. § Ability to manage several projects simultaneously. § Adaptable, flexible, and personable to succeed in a dynamic, energetic and fast paced environment § Strong communication and presentation skills. § Confident individual who will proactively bring issues and opportunities to the forefront, and deal with them in a timely and appropriate manner. Presents positions with a basis in fact and analysis. § Extensive experience in Microsoft products, including Excel, Word, etc.
