We currently have an exciting position in Dublin, CA for an Import/Export Analyst.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Import/Export Analyst will ensure trade compliance for the company via the implementation of controls driven by government regulations and corporate policies. This individual will interface with company personnel and systems, with customers, customs brokers, freight forwarders and government officials as necessary in order to ensure the efficient and compliant movement of domestic and international shipments. The Import/Export Analyst will also ensure that company policies are updated and that proper training is conducted and completed.
This individual will have a working understanding and willingness to stay current on the import/export regulations and laws of the United States, Germany and other countries where the company does business. The Import/Export Analyst will audit the company processes and make recommendations as laws and regulations are changed by either corporate and/or governments. The Import/Export Analyst will be responsible for assuring that the trade compliance demands are met when fulfilling the growing global demand for the quality medical devices of Carl Zeiss Meditec.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Interpret the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), U.S. Customs, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and other government agency rules and regulations.Implement, update and monitor these rules and regulations where applicable to CZMI business processes.Determine if licensing is required with various governmental agencies including the BIS, OFAC, and the Dept. of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC). Submit and manage licenses as required. Manage reporting to BIS for license exceptions & ENC reporting.Provide HTS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule) numbers and FDA device information to the customs brokers.Provide ECCN (Export Control Classification Number) and Schedule B numbers to the freight forwarders.Maintain foreign trade data in the ERP system. Review and evaluate export transactions (contracts, Letters of Credit, agreements and sales orders).Perform denial list screening (Denied Parties List, Entity List, Specially Designated Nationals; other U.S. and non-U.S. denial lists).Maintain import and export files in a way that assures compliance with document retention requirements.Accumulate import/export related metrics, analyze and present to corporate management.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Conduct periodic departmental training for import/export compliance with various internal departments (Engineering, Sales, Order Administration, Customer Service, Shipping and HR). Provide import/export compliance material and training for new hires.Conduct internal and external import/export compliance audits.Work with Traffic in the management of transportation vendors, analyzation of performance and pricing, participate in rate negotiations.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
The Import/Export Analyst will report to the Sr. Manager of International Trade and Traffic and work with Traffic, Order Administration, Sales, Regulatory, Customer Service, Shipping and Engineering and other departments within the company. This individual will also interface with import and export vendors, government agency personnel and officials.
REQUIREMENTS:BS/BA and 6-8 years demonstrated work experience applying import/export regulations preferred.Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and employees within the company, Carl Zeiss Global, and US Government officials.Proficient with Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word.Experience with ERP systems. SAP experience a plus.Detailed knowledge of INCOTERMS, HTS, Schedule B, ECCN. Good written, verbal and presentation skills.
