Informatics Programmer

 

Reports to: Director of Informatics

Summary: This full-time position will provide for various implementation, testing, and data processing needs of the informatics group.  The scope of the position includes implementing machine learning tools and algorithms, data processing and mining tools, performing data processing, administering computers, and various other programming tasks required by the group. Specifically, the individual will work with tools and data related to energy expenditure, heart-rate, sleep and glucose. 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:Organizing and cleaning data coming in from internal, validation and outcome studies.Preparing datasets for machine learning activitiesDeveloping tools to automate (1 & 2)Assisting with algorithm developmentImplementing machine learning models in softwareDeveloping tools to automate (5)

 

 KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Experience working on medical software or medical dataMathematical skills and background (eg, Measuring accuracy, significance tests, visualization)Programming background (eg, Perl, Matlab, Java, database queries)Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environmentFamiliarity with good software engineering practice (eg, specification, documentation, and testing)

 

QUALIFICATIONS: An undergraduate degree in mathematics, computer science, statistics, or a related field.

 

EDUCATION:  Mathematics, computer simulation, programming, database, and statistics courses or equivalent.

 

EXPERIENCE: Medical informatics experience is ideal but not required. Strong Matlab, Perl & Java
