Instrument Sales Representative

Nashville, TN - The Instrument Sales Representative sells assigned products and services while maintaining the territory budget by following the policies and procedures set forth by Olympus' Diagnostic Systems Group. EOE M/F/D/V

* Manage territory by:
- Developing an annual sales and monthly activity plan
- Tracking targets and forecasting new orders
- Planning time and territory visits
- Selling accounts
- Maintaining territory reference accounts

* Manage sales by prospecting, qualifying, and developing target accounts including:
- Conducting two to four sales calls per day
- Advocating, detailing, and presenting supporting data

- Analyzing workflow to see results
- Planning site visits and demos
- Preparing and submitting proposals and financial justifications to management
- Closing sales either by self or with assistance of Regional Manager or Director of Sales

* Manage accounts by:
- Keeping a record of sales activity
- Expanding base of business by selling more accounts and increasing market share
- Managing contract compliance by knowing what is in the contract and staying involved with account
- Maintaining customers as good references
- Assisting in resolution of problems as required

 

* Provide reports to Regional Manager, including annual territory sales plan, four-week rolling itinerary, daily call contact report, expense account report, and competition information.

* Perform other related duties as required.

(ONLY QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL BE CONSIDERED)

* A Bachelor's degree in Business, Science or related field, or equivalent knowledge is required.

* A minimum of 3 years experience in medical sales, preferably in capital equipment/medical device sales is highly desirable.

* Knowledge of the clinical hospital laboratory market and selling process is essential.

* Prior experience selling chemistry and/or immunoassay systems to the hospital market is preferred.

* Strong selling and negotiating skills are a must.

* Must possess basic computer skills.

* Approximately 30-40% overnight travel is required.
