Manager, R&D Engineering

Position Summary: 

Manages the activities of R&D Engineering, collaborating with Research & Development and Operations Division, to commercialize new process and/or new equipment required to support product, process and manufacturing needs.  Work with internal and external partners to staff, design, assemble, install and qualify commercialized equipment to satisfy new process or equipment requirements.  Monitor progress of project teams to ensure adherence to project schedule and budget.  This leadership role will have full, direct supervisory responsibilities for the department.  Provide developmental and growth opportunities for staff.  Adheres to environmental policy and procedures and supports department environmental objectives. 

Key Functions and Responsibilities:

Manages and monitors performance of staff, providing personal development, training and mentoring (60%).  Provides leadership and supervision to assigned staff and estimates employment requirements (20%).   Plans, defines, organizes and prioritizes projects, coordination availability of resources with other units and evaluates the results (15%).   Provides other related duties as assigned by management  (10%). Prepares departmental budget and operates within the approved budget (5%).

Requirements:

Minimum of BS in Engineering discipline, ME, Chemical Engineering;  8 years of experience in engineering and manufacturing development and large-scale project management;  Strong Analytical skills;  Process Excellence certification preferred;  Strong organizational skills;  Excellent team building and partnering skills;  Knowledge of reliability engineering and concepts;  Strong mechanical engineering skills;  Knowledge of overall business models and strategies; Complete understanding and application of principles, concepts and practices of production manufacturing procedures;  Strong interpersonal, communication and supervisory skills.
