Job Purpose:
Directs the logistical responsibilities of the materials management function which includes information technology, security, and dining services to ensure a balance in customer service, manufacturing efficiencies and inventory investment and site strategy.
Position Responsibilities: (Key responsibilities, authorities, and inter-relationships)
· Convert forecasted sales plans into a manufacturing plan to ensure goods and services will be provided on time and within predetermined quality and technical specifications.
· Develops and administers departmental budget.
· Establishes written procedures for the operation of the department.
· Direct changes to the Master Production Schedule in response to company priorities.
· Identify and recommend enhancements and/or changes to the computerized manufacturing control system.
· Participate with other department heads to review the impact of forecast changes, determine capacity requirements, analyze process changes, determine the financial impact to the company and recommend changes to the production plan.
· Manage inventory levels required to meet company customer service levels and financial investment criteria, advise executive management.
· Manage all activities of product lines that are distributed by external companies.
· Participates with other departments in the selection of outside vendors.
· Manage outside services (security & dining services) to balance performance, cost & customer needs.
· Manage information technology to support site & corporate technology strategy.
Quality System Duties and Responsibilities:
· Establish and support a work environment of continuous improvement that supports BSC’s Quality Policy, Quality System and the appropriate regulations for the areas this position supports.
· Ensure that all employees that report to this position are trained to do their work and that their work and training is properly documented.
· Support the plant’s quality objectives and initiatives.
Experience and Education Requirements:
· A Bachelor’s degree in business management, logistics, materials management or other related field and/or combination of education and related experience is required. Masters degree in a related field would be ideal.
· A minimum of 10 or more years’ experience in materials management, production planning, purchasing or other related activities is required. Experience in a regulated industry (GMP’s and ISO 9000) is ideal.
· Must be able to demonstrate effective leadership skills in inspiring, driving and executing results through others. Must demonstrate and model effective listening, written and verbal communications, sound logical judgment and organizational skills, while at the same time creating in others both a sense of urgency and a commitment to excellence.
· Must be able to lead others in the use of critical thinking, problem solving and analysis.
· Experience working with Lean, Six Sigma, Kepnor Tregoe is ideal
· Previous working knowledge of SAP or equivalent system is required
· APICS Certification preferred.
