JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE:Mechanical Design Engineer DEPARTMENT (Name and Number):R&D 4711FLSA/LABOR CODE:  Exempt  X  Non-Exempt  ‘Hourly ‘  Direct Labor ‘ Indirect Labor ‘ REPORT TO: R&D DirectorDIVISION/LOCATION:Southborough JOB CODE/EEO CODE/JOB GRADE (To be completed by HR)  PURPOSE/SUMMARY (Brief overview of why job exists, general purpose for position) To assist product development team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List of 8 – 10 key tasks required of the job which occupy greater than 5% of the incumbents time)  Mechanical design of new products (Imaging systems, endoscopes) and improvements of current designs utilizing Solid Works. Provide existing product support. Provide product development requirements including drawings, interpretation of requirements, and documentation. Estimate project costs. Perform complex activities relating to the building, testing and evaluation of mechanical device systems. Write and develop product specification, testing protocols and associated device documentation. Perform design analysis (tolerance stack-ups), risk analysis and project cost estimates. Interface with vendors in component and process design. Comply with regulatory requirements, including company design control procedures.
