Medical Imaging Field Service Engineer

SEEKING MEDICAL IMAGING FIELD SERVICE SPECIALIST -- MEDICAL IMAGING for a clinical engineering service, in-house position, The incumbent is responsible for the repair and maintenance of Diagnostic Imaging equipment (Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, CT, MRI, Oncology, Ultrasound) to provide the entity served with safe and properly functioning equipment necessary to complete its charge as a health care provider. As requested, participates in purchasing decisions related to such equipment. The incumbent performs these tasks in a manner which is consistent with the values and mission of the Health Care System.
Performs and documents repair, preventive maintenance, quality assurance, and performance compliance services on Imaging equipment. Manages outside vendors in accomplishing these tasks. Recommends for purchase, installs, and operates new Imaging equipment, orders test equipment, tools and spare parts to facilitate equipment repairs. Replaces and de-installs equipment for trade-in or removal. Performs evaluation of service contracts to ensure compliance, coverage, and cost analysis. Performs and documents adjustments, relocation, and set-up of equipment in patient areas. Performs ongoing in-service training to entity employees on proper operation and safety of equipment. May serve on entity committees representing the department. Serves as resource person to physician, nursing, and entity personnel in areas regarding Imaging equipment purchasing, procedural application, problem remedying, equipment performance parameters, and research applications. Represents entity to construction and architectural firms and equipment vendors to assist in design and installation of systems and evaluation of equipment. Review departmental operating policies and procedures and recommends changes that will improve staff productivity and quality of care and foster proactive development of entity policies. Develops and regularly reports financial and operational progress, CQI analyses, equipment management and history status, and occurrence reporting. Manages film badge program for all applicable CES staff.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Regional Director. Works closely with Biomedical Supervisors.

REQUIREMENTS:
MINIMUM OF five years of progressively responsible work experience as a MEDICAL IMAGING Field Service Specialist or Field Service Engineer / Repair Technician. MUST HAVE Knowledge of practices and procedures, methods, tools and materials used in the use, repair, and maintenance of related medical equipment, specializing in medical imaging repair services. Thorough knowledge of system and equipment performance capabilities, and how they relate to safe administration of patient care. Ability to relate to all levels of hospital personnel and supervision. Able to influence these different levels toward cooperation and proper equipment choices. MUST HAVE the above knowledge, skills and abilities and MUST HAVE acquired training through the completion of a college degree with emphasis in medical electronics or equivalent electronic training (military or trade school) and five years of relevant experience. Certification is preferred. (CRES)
WORKING CONDITIONS:

1. Working environment is free of hazards and unpleasant conditions. Some exposure to EMI fields and precautions from exposure to radiation and bloodborne pathogens are to be anticipated.

2. Work requires some physical exertion. Lifts and carries Imaging equipment and assemblies.
