Principal Engineer, RFID

Job SummaryThis position has the responsibilities of developing the strategic direction related to RFID technology, (hardware/software technology and business processes), and provide project implementation and production support. Work with the global IT management team in establishing technical standards assuring compatibility and process compliance across all regions and applications. Works closely with business functions to identify operational processes that would create efficiencies through the use of RFID technologies. Performs all phases of systems analysis, including requirements definition, technical design, coding/configurations, testing, and validation. General Functions Develops global strategic direction for all related RFID technologies, (software, hardware, integration utilities/methods, and related business processes). Establish and maintain global technical standards Evaluates and recommends vendor based solutions related to RFID technologies Provides leadership/management for related RFID projects, (developing project plans, identifying and managing project resources, managing project timelines and budget). Develop a strong understanding of business operational processes, work closely with business leaders in identifying processes that would benefit from RFID technologies Provides direction to Programmers, Programmer/Analysts, and Sr. Programmer/Analysts who may be assisting on a project. Assures accuracy/efficiency of the development code and assures integrated testing is performed for all modules. Stays abreast of relevant technologies and business processes and provides input to the development and implementation of the global IT strategy. Provides consulting services and technical support to Zimmer employees (both domestic and international). Demonstrates strong skills in communicating technical ideas to non-technical clients as well as peers in IT. Provides off-hours on-call support for assigned technologies. This is not an exhaustive list of duties or functions and may not necessarily comprise all of the "essential functions" for purposes of the ADA. Expected Areas of Competence (i.e. KSA's) Technical competence in configuration, integration methods and programming related to RFID technologies. Experience in evaluating and implementation of RFID technologies. Strong understanding of operational business processes, (primarily related to inventory management and distribution). Project management skills and experience Excellent written and verbal skills. Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience is required. Licenses/Certifications - None requiredTravel Requirements - 10-15%Education: BachelorsJob Level: 6 - 7 yearsPercent Travel: 11-20%
