BASIC FUNCTION:

 

The Product Manager, is responsible for the successful implementation and management of their individual product line strategy for a specific set of products within the global orthopaedics market. This position reports to our Research and Development department and works closely with the design teams, sales management, marketing and our customers to develop and implement the division’s strategies.

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

· Gathers market information into business cases for new product ideas. Suggests new product opportunities.

· Carries out market research, competitive intelligence research and market analysis.

· Develops and maintains a strategic plan for new product launches.

· Participates in product development process as part of Research and Development

· Coordinates new product launches with the global markets and cross-functional teams

· Monitors sales of new and existing products and devises and implements strategies to capitalize on growth opportunities.

· Manages updates to product catalogs, price lists, L-code recommendations and other product materials as needed.

· Analyzes product backorder situations and product quality issues and assist in solving these issues.

· Assists in the design and implementation of tactical programs to grow existing orthopaedic product lines.

· Develops and maintains relationships with key customers and influencers.

· Works with sales and marketing management to develop key customer strategies, communication plans and execution of tactical plans to support the segment’s selling efforts.

· Reviews trade publications and websites for industry trends and opportunities.

· Monitors and reports on competitor products, promotions, pricing, and web site communications.

· Maintains confidentiality of company data including new product information, marketing strategies, pricing information and other business proprietary information.

 

KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

 

· Bachelors Degree. (preferably in Engineering or Business Administration)

· Prior Product Management experience (5-10 years)

· Self-starter; ability to take initiative and also to seek guidance when appropriate.

· Professional appearance and demeanor.

· Strong written and oral communication skills.

· Possess good organization and time management skills.

· Comfortable with material preparation and professional presentation to various audiences.

· Proficient with Microsoft software products including OUTLOOK, WORD, EXCEL, and POWERPOINT.
