Job Description Senior Product Marketing Communications Specialist Sr. Product Marketing Communications Specialist The Wilmington site, manufacturing the NanoDrop product line, is an innovative business with a unique route to market and a strong customer focus. The site has developed its own proprietary ERP system and has in-house staff to customize the application to adapt to ever-changing business needs. The Senior Product Marketing Communications Specialist will drive promotion of the Thermo brand and the division’s products and services as an integrated offering through the most effective communication vehicles and in a customer-oriented manner. This position involves working with the product managers and key staff to plan and implement effective promotional plans for products, as well as actively participating in project teams that address how to package our offering and message in direct alignment with the way customers and prospects work. The specialist will provide communications expertise and an understanding of the target market needs while planning promotional programs for individual or packaged product offerings. They will participate in the planning of the budget to fund the programs, and will manage the schedule and implementation of those programs throughout the year. This position supports the Marcom Manager representing the team in his / her absence, supporting moderate sized corporate initiatives, interfacing with corporate and sector marketing related to key vertical markets and industry segments, and may manage the Marcom Intern or Asst PMCS staff. The Sr. Product Marketing Communications Specialist will develop effective plans for assigned product lines, ensuring those plans are integrated as appropriate into the MarCom budget and campaign plans, and managing those plans throughout the year to ensure projects are initiated and completed on target. Additionally, they will be expected to develop product, service, vertical market, capability, and total solution specific MarCom programs, including sales collateral, advertisements, mailers, product announcements, press releases, Trade Show and conference participation, technical web content, etc. in a timely manner. Through creative development, writing, editing and production, they will ensure all MarCom programs produced communicate in the most optimal manner, including customer focus, non-jargon friendly, appropriate calls to action. The person in this role must have wide-ranging experience using professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. It is essential that they have familiarity with the broad Life Sciences market and be specifically knowledgeable about the sub-segments within that market as well as be comfortable with database information and have the ability to retrieve and analyze data for use in promotional programs and surveys. This position requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience. Graduate coursework, a Scientific background and management experience is desirable. Technical writing skills and a high comfort level with scientific topics is required. Demonstrated superior written and oral communications skills are a plus along with strong customer orientation. Hands-on experience with product launches with the ability to work effectively and influence others in a matrixed environment, including working within and among teams to influence others at all levels to move projects forward is a must. Experience with a variety of computer programs including Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel, Knowledge of Microsoft Project, Access and contact management databases is required.
