Siebel Applications and Database Administrator

This position is for Siebel Applications and Database Administration reporting to IT Manager. The Siebel Administrator/Sales Systems Architect is an IT technical position responsible for managing and supporting the Siebel Sales/Service applications and database. The ideal candidate should have in depth knowledge of the Siebel Technology stack and have experience managing, monitoring, enhancing and supporting the complex Siebel environments. The successful candidate will work closely with internal Siebel support and development groups, the core infrastructure group, as well as Siebel/Oracle and other external system vendors to provide stable, scalable and supportable environment. A strong Siebel technical and product knowledge is required as well as the ability to identify and review possible solutions in the market place to enhance the Siebel environment.

Essential Functions:
- Manage the current Siebel production and development environments including performance monitoring and issue resolution with both internal and external parties
- Produce regular metrics for the Siebel production environment identifying trends in the performance of the environment that could equate to growing risk ahead of the issue developing into a production problem
- Act as the key liaison to the core infrastructure group to monitor and manage all Siebel environments to reduce risk of outage and attain system availability of 99.5%. Ensure that suitable system management is being undertaken in the area of data protection and availability
- Define and implement an environment refresh strategy to support the requirements of production support, training and development organizations including internal and external users
- Undertake continual hardware planning to ensure the infrastructure is scalable to ongoing business growth
- Proactively work with Siebel and other external solution providers to stay abreast of product roadmap and future direction; recommend/plan for system upgrades and migration strategy that minimizes production risk and maximizes business benefits
- Act as the key Siebel point of contact for all technical related matters with respect to the development and management of the environment
- Create system documentation for staff reference and cross-training
- 24x7 Siebel database and applications support and supporting other major activities like month-end/year-end close activities
- Backups/recovery using NetApp snapmirror/snaprestore technologies
- Providing high availability solutions for Siebel
- Driving best practices, process improvements and strategic initiatives for the Siebel database and applications administration team

Education: BA or BS degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or Business Operations; MS a plus

Requirements:
- 4+ years proven technical background with Siebel production and development environments
- Minimum 4 years in IT Siebel technical role including custom development, project management, system deployment and production support
- Hands on experience with Siebel Sales 7.5/7.8/Siebel 8
- Working experience of Siebel on Solaris 8/9/10 environment
- Proven experience and track record managing production and development environments for the Siebel application suite
- Working knowledge of Siebel application modules
- In depth knowledge of Siebel applications load balancing using Resonate
- Handling very large Siebel database backup/recovery
- Experience performance tuning very large Siebel environments
- Siebel database and applications capacity planning experience
- Experience working with different Siebel applications and database monitoring tools
- Experienced working on multiple Siebel upgrades, database and applications patching
- Unix shell scripting capabilities
- Strong technical background including operating systems, development tools and system performance tool deployment
- Solid understanding of sales applications and business process flows from quote to cash
- Ability to make and own key decisions as a senior IT technical expert, while balancing input from technical customer base and application vendor
- Experience working with cross functional applications and infrastructure teams and implementing solutions
- Experience working with NAS and SAN solution
- Experience in partnering and working cross functional with different applications and infrastructure teams to gather information and driving end-to-end technology solutions
- Experience with supporting full life cycle development activities
- Very quality conscious with solid analytical and writing skills
- Experience working closely with offshore managed service providers
