Software Engineer I-Clinical Data Systems
Title: Software Engineer (Clinical Data Systems) Essential functions of the position: 1. Develops, tests, deploys, and maintains data management systems to collect and report clinical study data. 2. Performs clinical data systems administration activities. Maintains Oracle Application Server and IIS.3. Supports development of web enabled Oracle applications to gather and retrieve Clinical trial data.4. Develops and implements electronic error checking routines and data field validation rules to ensure the integrity of clinical databases.5. Conducts integration tests of new clinical software prior to production release to ensure proper functionality. Analyzes identified problems, determines solutions to resolve issues, and corrects software defects.6. Develops documentation for data management system implementation and for user training. Communicates technical principles to both technical and non-technical audiences.7. Creates ad-hoc queries and custom reports using PL/SQL and other Oracle development object oriented tools. 8. Provides computer and applications support, troubleshooting and problem solving for Clinical systems users. Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent. Knowledge of formal database concepts and relational database design experience. Experience in software programming, documenting, debugging, testing, validating, implementation, and maintenance. Working knowledge of Windows and UNIX operating systems. Familiarity with Microsoft office products including Word, Excel, and Access. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Desired: Experience in systems administration of Oracle Application server (Forms server, Reports server, HTTP server, Web Cache) and IIS (ASP.NET). Experience in software development including traditional tools/languages, object oriented environment – knowledge of SQL Example: Oracle PL/SQL), object oriented development tools (Example: Oracle Forms and Oracle Reports), and Web development tools (Example: ASP.NET). Programming experience in object oriented languages such as C++, C# and Java is a plus. Understanding of human physiology or any prior involvement with medical field can be helpful.
