Sr. Design Engineer

  Position Summary

 

The design and development of new products and the efficient manufacturing processes needed to fabricate these components is critical to the success of US Endoscopy.  The position requires the professionalism, dedication and can-do attitude to ensure the completion of these tasks in a very demanding environment. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

§ Responsible for coordinating/directing/executing design activities related to Endoscopic Devices and Accessories.

§ Must have a commitment to teamwork and quality and be able to manage multiple projects concurrently, focusing on the satisfaction of changing customer (internal and external) needs and priorities. 

§ Interprets and evaluates data from various engineering, research and/or marketing investigations and helps determine the performance requirements that will be  incorporated into the product.

 

§ Works with clinicians to obtain feedback on current designs or prototypes, to better understand unmet market needs that are driving a particular project, to observe device/prototype performance in animal lab or initial market release for possible design alterations.

§ Can focus on priority tasks, learn new things quickly, and consistently have the ability to deliver creative and simple solutions to complex and challenging opportunities. 

§ Consults with members of internal departments and develops products/approaches that are compatible with policies, procedures, quality standards, and performance expectations.
 

§ Must communicate effectively verbally and through appropriate documentation to measure project and product scope definition and status is provided in a clear, concise manner. 

§ Must be able to present project updates to technical and non-technical audiences (project meetings, board meetings, etc.  This position may at times be required to solely represent the design function in key meetings when the department head is not able to attend.

§ Integrates inputs from technical, manufacturing, and marketing disciplines and prepares part drawings, tolerance stack-up studies, and all associated support documentation.

Education and/or Experience Technical degree and/or a minimum of six years equivalent, offsetting experience consistent with job description requirements Proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent drawing programFamiliarity with 3-D Programming & Analysis Package required—SolidWorks preferred

§ Excellent engineering and design skills and ability to work independently

§ Strong interpersonal skills and verbal and written communication skills

§ Management/Supervisory experience and team development preferred



 

Must be able to travel domestically and internationally to observe clinical usage, attend conferences, participate in animal or bench tests, network with key physicians.
