We currently have an exciting position in Dublin, California for a Senior Financial Analyst.
He/she will collect and analyze finance data, assist in the preparation of financial reports to management, and perform monthly profitability reports and variance explanations (including financial highlights, product line, profit center, and project analyses).
The Sr. Financial Analyst serves as a financial liaison between a specific functional area within the organization, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), and Accounting. Major responsibilities include but not limited to: month end accounting activities, financial reporting & analysis, process improvements, project accounting. He/she provides the company’s management with timely financial and analytical support under the direction of the Manager of FP&A. Responsible for implementation of financial concepts for financial planning and control. Performs technical analysis to determine present and future financial performance. Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes recommendations for financial plans (budgets) and operating forecasts.
This level of Financial Analyst works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Additionally, he/she exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Identify and follow up on variances from budget and forecasts for portions of P&L and balance sheets.Month end close activities include: Analysis of Project Accounting using SAP-Real Internal Orders to accurately account for project expenses.Analyze Plan Labor rates compared to Act Labor rates. Develop precise method for the absorption of the variances.Prepare and distribute monthly reports that include: Cockpit charts, expense analysis by project. Dept. spending: actual to budget, and actual to forecast comparisons.Support profitability analysis by project.Assist in preparation of operations budget. Coordinate short term and long-range forecasts.Work closely with directors, and project managers, to monitor project milestones, and expenditures.Support the accounting organization to ensure compliance with IFRS regulations as it relates to IAS18, and IAS 38.Provide analytical support to other departments on an on-going basis. This includes analysis of current trends as well as what-if scenarios. The Senior Financial Analyst is expected to be proactive in preparing analysis and using it to drive changes in the business as supported by his/her manager and other executive staff.Participate in the preparation of the monthly financial report so that it is published in a timely manner. Provide intermediate analysis of monthly results as necessary in order to gain an understanding of the business.Perform special analyses as required.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Central Planning/General Tasks Participate in the central planning function with specific focus on managing the annual budgeting process for the functional area that he/she has been assigned to. Support the development of short and long range business planning. Perform regular forecasts at the operational and financial level.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Will report to the Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis.
REQUIREMENTS:BA/BS in Finance, Accounting or equivalent experience. 3-5 years of financial experience, related industry preferred. Minimum of 2 years of financial planning and analysis experience.Minimum of 2 years of project accounting experience is preferred.Communication skills that clearly present ideas, theories, and technical financial information to executives, operation, and managerial staff, both formal and informal.Extensive computer skills, particularly, SAP (CO, FI, COPA), excel, COGNOS, Ask ManMan.Must be proactive and able to work independently in a variety of financial activities. Must be accurate, professional, and timely in all aspects of job duties.
