Sr Mgr/Director Latin America
Primary FunctionTo be the driving force for business in Latin America. S/he will be responsible for developing and implementing business strategies and ensuring that both sales and profit goals are achieved or exceeded. In addition to Management leadership, provide Clinical and Technical support to customers in the management of clinical programs and challenging clinical cases. Provide advanced technical and audiological support as needed to distributors, cochlear implant centers, and regional managers, including troubleshooting, programming support, management of new product applications, fittings.
§ Manage the AB Business in Latin America including Sales, Marketing, Customer Service and Clinical/Technical support
§ Provide surgeons, audiologists, and other clinicians with clinical information and advice on surgeries, patient candidacy, selection, evaluation and post implantation management.
§ Provide customer support through phone calls, emails & Website
§ Deliver suitable training programs tailored to clinics' specific needs
§ Provide consultancy (including Integrity Testing) and counseling for difficult/challenging candidates and patients and train clinic staff in the appropriate management strategies for such patients.
§ Assist with Clinical Trials and Research Studies on ABC Products
§ Instigate and implement training by other experts and professionals as appropriate.
§ Present clinical data and study outcomes at key conferences or workshops.
§ Assist in the preparation of sales plans for key accounts to meet regional strategic plan & targets.
§ Attend trade shows, conferences and congresses in the region presenting ABC products.
§ Participate in educational/training opportunities to increase awareness of cochlear implantation solutions. Conduct presentations to the general public
§ Monthly Clinical and Trip reports, and ad hoc reports as required
§ Coordinate education and training workshops with distributors, local employees and customers.
§ Assist in the coordination and training of product workshops in Latin America and international conferences in the region.
§ Provide on-going training, updates, product positioning, and marketing messages for customers, AB employees, and distributors in Latin America
§ Provide on-site training and on-going audiological and surgical support to cochlear implant centers on all the clinical issues involving cochlear implants such as candidacy criteria, assessment procedures, OR support and clinical studies.
§ Report and gather all fitting problems from clinical/technical specialists and seek input from appropriate personnel at head office to resolve problems in a timely fashion.
§ Provide leadership in training, motivating and supporting distributor(s) in Latin America
§ Provide education and training in conjunction with sales activities of distributor(s) and sales managers in Latin America
§ Prepare a monthly report of regional education, training, and research activities
§ Provide input into product development.
§ Recognize opportunities to present competitive information to further sales activities in the region.
§ Provide feedback to product development team regarding field and end-user problems and work with them to define and implement solutions.
§ Support other markets in Latin America countries as necessary.
§ Develop local Latin America training materials to increase distributor and customer's technical knowledge.
§ Other duties as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities Collaborate with other key functional teams to develop and execute beta programs, product positioning materials, data sheets, sales materials, PR strategies, and launch campaigns. Direct team in analyzing competitive information, & develop sales & marketing strategies in response to competitive product launches.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills
1. Native Spanish speaking
2. Sound knowledge of the application of cochlear implants.
3. Understanding of the field of Audiology or otolaryngology/ENT.
4. Fundamental understanding of speech signal process or speech sciences.
5. Good communication and management skills. Must be able to function as a team player with the Regional sales Manger, clinical & technical manager, and other team members. Must be flexible and adaptable to deal with fitting and external equipment problems in the field. Must be an effective teacher, be able to assess the effects of training, and identify areas in need of additional training.
Experience At least 10 years of experience in the medical device industry; engineering or (preferred) degree in Audiology, hearing science, or other related field Training in the application of cochlear implants in a clinical setting Minimum 5 years experience building and managing sales or technical team Proven track record in building and launching successful products and services in the medical device industry Extensive experience directly managing and leading cross functional teams A keen ability to multi-task and manage details while keeping an eye on the big picture Experience with proven instances of balancing multiple projects and a high workload. Proven history of bringing multiple new products to market based on unmet customer needs.
Education & Training
B.S. degree in business, marketing, or engineering, MBA preferred.
Responsibility for Personnel (Supervisory)
Management responsibility for an existing team of 4 team members (located in Latin America); with additional team members to be hired
