Responsibilities: 1. Be involved in all phases of software development from requirements definition to production release. 2. Architect, design and deliver software in C++ for Clinical Chemistry and immunodiagnostic instruments for low, medium and high-end markets. 3. Design software to meet product specifications using Object Oriented Design methodologies and tools. 4. Facilitate support for fault isolation, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis activities during system integration and validation testing. 5. Follow documented software development process. Engage in improvements to the process to aid productivity and to increase quality. 6. Work closely with cross-functional team members across the business.This position also requires high personal and professional integrity, a desire to learn about Medical Diagnostic Analyzers, the ability to deliver software solutions and to comply with company procedures. The candidate will need to be capable of making independent technical contributions, as well as interacting with technical contributors from multiple engineering disciplines in-support of program objectives.Qualifications5+ years prior experience in software development.Proficient in design, analysis, and development of software for complex applications. Expert knowledge of C++. Proficient with OO design methodologies; Experience with OO CASE tools and UML or other formal object oriented design notation is a must (OOA/OOD CASE tools, such as Rational Rose or Rhapsody is preferred). Experience with Active X, MFC, COM/DCOM and database development preferred.Knowledge of regulations and standards affecting IVDs and Biologics.Experience in Microsoft Visual C++ technology with emphasis in object-oriented analysis and design. Must be self-driven and able to work independently. Must have very good oral and written communication skills as well as time management skills. Flexibility to work in a FDA regulated software environment. Experience in the development of medical diagnostics equipment is a plus. Experience with software configuration management & change control tools. Focus on delivering quality products. A track record of working in a multi-disciplinary team is a plus. Must be willing to travel occasionally (10%) within the US. Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related requiredAbbott welcomes and encourages diversity in our workforce.
