Title:  Senior Software Engineer – Ophthalmic Medical Device

Location: Boston, MA

 

Our client is a Boston based medical device start up company. They are in the ophthalmic market and have a game changing technology in the LASIK market. The Executive leadership, financing and venture partners included in this early stage company are all top shelf and have substantial previous successful medical device experience.

The position is for a Senior Software Engineer who will be responsible for:

·  The development of software for use in ophthalmic medical devices

·  This is a broad based position including project management, development with PCs under Windows XP to microcontrollers for low-level hardware control.

·  Experience should include working on complex problems and exercises independent judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluating criteria for obtaining results.

·  Provides technical leadership in software design and test.

·  Candidates should  have several years experience in hardware-specific software design in C and C++, preferably in a medical device environment, and is familiar with current software design and software quality assurance practices:

·  Responsible for selection, procurement, and set-up of the company’s software design and test suites and equipment.

·  Responsible for software requirements analysis and creation of requirements documentation. Organizes software requirements reviews and hazard analysis meetings.

·  Responsible for all levels of software design and implementation, from architecture to coding. Responsible for design documentation.

·  Responsible for unit testing, and integration testing of software modules. Uses version control software. Ensures documentation of testing activities.

·  Supports software validation as required.

·  Work together with hardware designers in order to obtain optimum system performance.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

·  MS in CS, EE, or related field.

·  Five (5) years related experience.

·  Knowledge of C/C++ and object-oriented design techniques.

·  Knowledge of 32-bit MS Windows programming (MFC; MPF preferred); USB driver development; experience with microcontroller firmware development

·  Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
